Prophet Alyasa (Arabic: اليسع), also known as Elisha in the Bible. Islamic prophet who succeeded Prophet Ilyas (Elias or Elijah) in guiding the people of Israel. While his tale is not as detailed in the Qur’an as that of other prophets, Islamic sources still stress his virtues. His role in the continuing of the divine revelation, and his importance as a crucial figure in prophetic history.

Prophethood and Mission
Though nothing known about his life, the passages establish his place as one of Allah’s chosen prophets. Among famous people such as Ishmael (Isma’il), Jonah (Yunus), and Lot. The mention of his name with other virtuous prophets emphasises his moral and spiritual significance in the divine tale.

As the successor to Prophet Ilyas (Elijah), Alyasa played a key role. Ilyas had been sent to Israel to persuade the people to abandon idol worship, notably the worship of the pagan god Baal. His attempts were met with hostility, and many of his admirers rejected his warnings. In Islamic legend, after Ilyas left the terrestrial realm, Allah picked Alyasa to carry on his mission.
Prophet Alyasa is claimed to have carried on Ilyas’ prophetic legacy and preached the same monotheistic message. He, like Ilyas, stressed the worship of Allah alone while condemning the corrupt practices of idol worship and injustice prevalent among the Israelites.
His prophetic efforts therefore continued the war against polytheism and corruption in the region.


His Life and Miracles.
Although the Qur’an does not go into much detail about Alyasa’s life, Islamic tradition and Hadith literature provide valuable insights into his personality and the miracles linked with him. Prophet Alyasa is frequently portrayed as a very spiritual guy dedicated to prayer and good acts. His life exhibited patience, humility, and an unwavering commitment to Allah’s instruction.

According to Hadith literature, Alyasa performed various miracles while serving as a prophet. One such miracle is that, like Prophet Ilyas. Alyasa possessed the capacity to heal and do miraculous actions at the command of Allah.

Alyasa credited with performing miracle during famine. When inhabitants faced a severe drought, Alyasa reported to have prayed to Allah. Rain fell, reviving crops and giving food for the people. This miracle interpreted as an expression of Allah’s benevolence and Alyasa’s closeness to Him.
Another amazing incident in Alyasa’s life was his involvement in the resuscitation of a dead kid. The act of reviving the dead is a powerful manifestation of the prophet’s divine might, emphasising Allah’s dominion over life and death.

These miracles, however not as well documented as those of other prophets. Highlight Alyasa’s role as an Allah-fearing servant who received divine assistance in carrying out his task.
Alyasa’s Mission and Ethics

While not elaborating on his precise teachings, the Qur’an refers to moral virtues exemplified by prophets. Including Alyasa, such as patience, faith in Allah, and resilience in the face of adversity.

The Legacy of Alyasa
While Alyasa’s life is not as well documented in the Qur’an or Hadith as other prophets, his legacy is one of everlasting faith and loyalty to Allah. He continued Prophet Ilyas’ work by asking his people to worship the One God and promoting justice and righteousness.
